My LS-QV8.0TL/R5 aborts when I update firmware
« on: June 05, 2017, 09:34:55 AM »
I'm trying to update my firmware on an LS-QV8.0TL/R5 from 1.64 to 1.71.  It downloads, but aborts with the message "ACP_STATE_FAILURE"

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you for the quick reply.  That is the updater that I had tried and gave me the error.

Is there another way to do the update?

Some of the newer units can download an update directly but I'm not sure about this one. I think that might be the only option. If you can I'd recommend shutting the unit down and testing the drives by connecting them to a computer somehow and running Crystal Disk Info on them. It's possible a marginal/about to fail drive is causing the update problem.

Interesting thought.  The original problem that caused me to want to update firmware is that my Veeam backup jobs were failing.  This unit has started behaving itself on that score.

Unfortunately, another unit in another building is now acting up.

I wonder if the heavy weather we've been having has caused a power spike that fried these units.  Perhaps it would be best to just replace them.

They are getting a little long in the tooth and the warranty has long since expired. Our new TeraStation 3010 and 5010 units are considerably faster and more reliable than the older LinkStations.
