Linkstation Live LS-CHL F/W 1.01 Bittorrent Issues
« on: October 29, 2008, 04:05:27 PM »

The Bittorrent client on the LS-CHL F/W 1.01 does not seem to work reliably. Verified torrents, except for a rare few, never begin, seeds are never detected, and the torrent just hangs there doing nothing. Once in a while a torrent will work, but 98% of the time I find the torrent not moving. These are verified good torrents which work fine with any number of desktop clients. I have moved the port, but to no avail. I have tried manually setting the throughput and using automatic, but nothing seems to change. Is this a firmware issue?

I am running the latest firmware, 1.01-0.43.

Try putting the nas in the DMZ for a test, let me know if you see any different response

Putting the Linkstation in the DMZ did not work. The torrent still does not activate.

I would force flash the firmware, directions are listed below

http://forums.buffalotech.com/buffalo/board/message?board.id=0101&message.id=277&query.id=21935#M277

After the firmware is uploaded then set the unit back to factory defaults

Ok, I tried this, but it doesn't work. The LSUpdater.ini file has the following parameters:

[Application]

Title = BUFFALO LS-CHL Updater Ver.1.00

WaitReboot = 480

WaitFormat = 500

[Target]

ProductID = 0x00000010

Name = LS-CHL

[Flags]

VersionCheck = 0

[SpecialFlags]

Debug = 1

When running an update, the following message is produced:

PC and LS-CHL firmware version are same. Updating is not necessary.

Apparently the VersionCheck flag is not being heeded.

I still don't see why updating the firmware is appropriate since it is currently the latest version, unless that version is buggy. Maybe I should downgrade it, and would try that, but there are no previous version available in the Downloads section.

Please advise.

If you right click on the program tab at the bottom of your windows bar you will see a debug mode.

With in the Debug mode you will be able to choose to force the firmware.

Forcing the firmware and setting the unit back to factory defaults with in the web interface will over write any corrupted files that exist on the kernel.

Are the torrent files you're using from a site that requires an account or are they on an anonymous Torrent site?

   I have mainly tried anonymous torrents. Of course they do work with a desktop client as I said.

   I have the same issue. When I use anonymous torrents it works fine, but when I use torrents that require an account; the torrents dont download at all.

   Ok, I have forced the update as suggested. It still doesn't work.

Hi,

same problem here.

Trying to add a torrent from site which requires login and the torrent won´t start.

When I use anonymous torrents it works fine, but when I use torrents that require an account; the torrents dont download at all!

Firmware Version: 1.01-0.43 (Forced firmwareupdate as said in other posts)
Language set to: English (even though my native language is German)

Help is appriciated since I bought it for that reason -_-

This is a new feature provided by Buffalo, I will escalate the issue and see if we can push out a firmware that will fix this issue.

Thank you for your fast reply :)

Looking forward to the firmware update which hopefully also addresses the possibility to cut/delete/paste files/folders within the bittorrent folders.
