Shared folders - Access denied after firmware update
« on: April 12, 2017, 01:55:07 PM »
Hi guys,

I have a Terastation 3400R.
This morning I ran the firmware update 1.7.1

Since, users of the NAS cannot access the shared folders anymore. No change were made in the configuration. The users have the same rights than before the update.

I can see the \\NAS root, but as sonn as I try to connect a shared folder, I am prompted for credentials (that's normal), but I have that error.

Please could you help me, we have files used for work...

Best regards

Initalize the settings via the admin page if you have not done so already.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebnetworks.com and we will get it fixed!

Thaks for your reply Davo.

I have tried but no success.
After initializing the settings, I set up the NAS, create new users but I still can't access.

SMB logs stopped when I launched the firmware update. No logs since.

Is it the same using the IP instead of hostname? Can you access the shares using a different protocol like afp on a Mac or SMB ?

The DNS works. I can see the shared folders under the "root" named \\NAS.
This is when I try to open the shared folders that it tells me Access denied.

This is the same from a mac.

Is it possible that the RAID failed? Eventhough it doesn't report me any errors...

Here we go again...

I just applied the new firmware 1.82, and we can't access shared folders anymore... neither from a mac or a Windows PC.

Did you resolve the issue the first time? If so, how so?

If you log into the web UI can you log in as admin? Do your shares have access restrictions enabled? Have you contacted support?

**A single copy of data, even on a RAID array, is NOT a backup! Hard drive failure is not a question of IF, but WHEN! Don't take my word for it, take Google's!**

The first time, I have beem in touch with 2 guys of the support. They took the hand on my computer, tried to change restrictions, created a new shared folder but nothing.
I sent them the NAS logs for a deeper analysis, but they didn't give me a feedback regarding those logs.

Few days after, a new firmware was released. I installed it and surprise, the access to shared folders was granted.

But unfortunately, the upgrade I did this morning - 1.82 - has broken permissions once again.

There is no problem with the web UI. I can log as admin.
