So I finally got to installing the drive internally via SATA and got a version UFS. If I plug in the drive with the machine powered down, Windows 7 freezes on the startup logo screen. So I decided to try hotswaping the drive in.
1) I went into my BIOS and switched the drive mode from RAID to AHCI
2) Restarted the machine twice and windows runs fine
3) I plug the drive in, I hear it wind up but it doesn’t appear anywhere (Disk Management, Intel Rapid, or UFS)
4) I tried third party software HotSwap! but it too doesn’t see it
5) SeaTools doesn’t seem to see it either
Intel Raid Storage app is supposed to support Hot-Swapping drive… but even forcing a refresh doesn’t turn up the drives. I know the connection works in some form, since it prevents windows from booting normally... so I'm feeling it has something to do with the hot swapping it in.
I’m not sure what I’ve missed, but are there registry keys that would need to be changed? Or is the data retrievable via an OS I can boot off a USB key?
Thanks again...
