LS441 NAS DLNA issues
« on: July 02, 2016, 01:20:15 AM »
Ok, I have an LS441 NAS, with three 4 TB WD Red HDs. All drives are on a single RAID drive. I am currently running one shared DLNA folder (though I've had the same issue crop up when I tried running with more than one shared folder).

The main application I'm trying to use this NAS for is streaming video files through an NVIDIA Shield to my TV.

Everything runs well, at first. I start transferring files onto the NAS. Some files show up, some don't: I figured the trick was to "shuffle" the files onto another subfolder on the NAS, then back to the original subfolder I put it in. Most of the time, the file then pops right up. So far, so good. I have all my files sorted. Scifi shows in this folder, cop dramas in another. Then subfolders within that: Babylon 5 in one subfolder, for instance. Then, depending on the number of episodes, further subfolders: Season 1, Season 2, etc.

So far, so good. Everything works.

And then it doesn't. I don't know if it's when I put too much strain on the NAS' little brain, if I overwhelm it with too many changes too quickly, or what, but at a certain point the NAS stops DLNA streaming. I go to the tile screen and DLNA is toggle on, but the text underneath says "Not Enabled".

I've gone around with Buffalo tech support quite a while on this. No solution. I'm also running an LS 221DE, to keep my files separate from my girl's. The 2 drive unit is running fine, though it has also had this same issue crop up.

Is this just a matter of slowly adding files so the system doesn't freak out on me? Is there a proper number I should try for? ~300 files a day, then let it catch up? Any ideas?

Thanks.

Firmware: 1.81-0.03
In this version firmware a lot of claims, I have LS421 on the same hardware platform.

So, the suggestion is to go to firmware 1.34? May I have confirmation of this, please, before I do this?

And while I'm at it, where can I get firmware 1.34?

No, for LS441 only 1.81 version. In earlier version is likely no configuration LS441. This model has been announced most recent of LS4xx series.
We are waiting (more than a year) for fixes 1.81 / new firmware.
