LS-QVL Raid5 Array failure
« on: April 20, 2016, 12:59:00 PM »
Hi,

i got a LS-QVL linkstation with 4 3To HD in raid5 firmxare 1.69
after power cut, failure of the disk #4, i replace with a new one same model, launch rebuilt array.
unfortunalty something wrong apend, and now disk #2,3,4 in error, and the array disapear...
in nas navigator nothing in the back side, in the GUI no array and can't do nothing.
what is strange is that the folder rooth still there ... but can't enter in
i'm quite sure the data's are not lost
after many search on the web i found
http://buffalo.nas-central.org/wiki/Terastation_Recovery#Recovering_the_Array

then, mount my drives in a computer and start to use UFS recovery...looks nice, many try and hours after
i couldn't recover files, some are there but everythings is mix and even i can restore some of them, there are not consistent..

so my questions are.
1- disk order 1,2,3,4 are really the order of the raid5 array?
2- what are the raid5 parameters for this linkstation requested by UFS, eg: parity distribution, stripe size, parity delay, .....

i hope someone could help me .. at least 1To of pics & personal movies need rescue ...

thanks & regards

Can you pull drive 4 and get back to the degraded array with 1,2,3?
**A single copy of data, even on a RAID array, is NOT a backup! Hard drive failure is not a question of IF, but WHEN! Don't take my word for it, take Google's!**

hello,

yes already tried but same result, in fact the nas do not find the array,
i already conneted 3 drives in PC, using UFS many times but nothing consitent,
now i'm trying Reclaim raid recovery, the soft gave me some results about the settings to use, seems the raid disk order  is 3,4,1,2 ...

i'm still searching for some help .. thanks for your answer..

hi guy's,

good news, seems i was able to recover 100% of the data with 3 disks, using 2 softwares..

but now i'm thinking the problem is coming by the workstation itself ..
i only put one drive in, nas navigator told me station in EM mode ...
try to use LSupdater 1.71 (or 1.69) that found the station but during update mention "partition not found..."
so i decided to restart the station by pushing the function bouton same time to power on, to reset it ..
everything blinding in blue, than power led in fix blue & function led in red. and one again can't do nothing more ...

i can change the IP# but no way to go GUI.
should i trash the station without trying something or someone have an idea...

thanks
