Hi,

Hoping someone can help. BT say the problem is with Buffalo and Buffalo contradict this... (specifics below). Your comments/suggestions will be most appreciated.

In essence I can connect to the Linkstation via Buffalonas from a computer on the network. I need to access the Linkstation from a remote computer, not connected to the network, preferably via Buffalonas as well as ftp. I cannot do either.

I have a BThomehub2 with Linkstation Live server connected via ethernet. Also 2 computers on the network.

Application definition: Linkstation, Protocol - TCP, Port range - 9000-9000, Translate to - 9000-9000, Trigger protocol - 9000, Trigger port - 9000

DHCP table - includes LS-CHL (assigned MAC and IP

UPnP - off

DMZ: assign IP address to a device - no

Firewall - default (block incoming, allow application sharing)

(note - Ive tried disabling the firewall on the BThomehub but it doesnt make a difference)

Thanks in advance

Sam

Is the HTTPS/SSL option in the Web Access control on the NAS enabled? If so, try disabling that.

Well, it seems that anybody with a BT Home Hub thinking about buying a Linkstation to set up an ftp server that can be accessed remotely from another computer should choose an alternative brand. BUFFALO LINKSTATION SIMPLY CANNOT DO THE JOB. Their customer support although trying to help, do not know what to do ('its extremely strange' said one agent, 'all the settings are set up as they should be... I dont know what to do'. Another agent tried for 45 mins then said he would check with a colleague and be back in 2 minutes but never came back...

I can access the Linkstation files via Buffalonas.com (NOTE - Buffalonas.com is often down though and even their customer service agents are moaning about how unstable it is) and ftp from within the network, but not from outside. The problem is not with BT - I have opened the ports for an Xbox also connected to the Hub without issue.

To conclude, Linkstation is just about ok for sharing files on an internal network (although extremely slow, but thats another matter). THE BUFFALO LINKSTATION DOES NOT ALLOW REMOTE ACCESS - you cannot access it from an external computer through Buffalonas.com or ftp. Avoid

I am about to put this product back in the returns bin & vent my frustration accordingly

Have there been any advance on this problem?

frankly I have the software installed but my hard wired network pc doesn't even see the device.

Hi

I am having exactly the same problem. Home hub 2 with the linkstation.

Name: LS-CHL-V2434 Firmware version: 1.33

Any time I go to my buffalonas.com address it redirects me to blank page.

My Firewall settings are created as above? Any help would be appreciated

Does web access work on your local network? If theonly problem you are having is accessing it from outside your network then the problem is with the BT home hub. BT support is cake at best, they barley know what port forwarding is.

However there are many good youtube vids out there that will give you step by step instructions on how to do port forwarding correctly on the router.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

then the problem still lies with your BT homehub. i can 100% gaurantee you its not a Linkstation issue as the device doesnt know if it is being conencted to from within your LAN or from an external source.

The fact that it is working 100% from inside your network shows the Linkstation has been setup and is working correctly.

Go to http://canyouseeme.org and check and see for yourself if port 9000 is open.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

dont think so,

There should be an option to specify a single port, not just a range however the range looks wrong, all you need to do is forward port 9000 (external) to 9000 (internal)

does the port show as open on canyouseeme.org?

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Sorted! Need to update my external port number on my Linkstation.

Updated my home hub port range to 9000 and trigger port to 0, and happy days.

Thanks for your help.

Setting that worked for me, hopefully useful to struggling homehub 2 people....
