Rsync Setup
« on: July 18, 2015, 09:30:03 AM »
I have a Linkstation Quad.   I've had problems for years where files sent from remote clients to the NAS via rsync could not be deleted.  They had been removed from remote system but the --delete command in rsync would fail.  Using Windows Explorer could not remove these files or folders.

One client's directory size had mushroomed to more than could fit on a tape so I decided to delete the disk on the NAS and start over.  That took 5 days AND lost the IP address and other settings.

The NAS has been set to it's old static IP address but rsync fails.

I use to be able to run rsync  linkstationname:: <enter>
and it would show what was available via rsync.   Now it returns NOTHING.

I've googled for 5 hours trying to figure out what is wrong  but can't find anything.
Can anyone tell me what might be missing from the NAS config to allow rsync?

I'd posted back in 2010 my progress on this http://forums.buffalotech.com/index.php?topic=5774.msg40352#msg40352

I had not checked the box next to "Disk Backup".  Once I checked and applied that the array1_Backups was available for rsync.
