 Hi There.
This is my first post so please be kind to me :)

My LS-WXL Linkstation has 2x3TB drives configured as RAID 1. Just recently the system indicated degraded mode in Drive 2. This then went to a failed sate so I purchased an identical drive. Having replaced the failed drive  and followed a very detailed step-by step instruction from this forum on re-building the Array all  appeared to be going OK. This was started last Sunday evening. On Monday morning however I noticed that the drive had powered itself off. I tried to re-cycle the power but with no success. Now  I have a sequence of indicator lights that I cannot find any reference too in the manual so am wondering what might be going on. The INFO/ERROR light flashes 6 times, the goes out for about 2 seconds and then flashes 6 times again. NO OTHER indicator lights are lit INCLUDING the POWER light. I've tried Power resetting the box again but the same sequence of lights continues. I am also unable to ping the IP of the drive through the command prompt. I am at a loss.

Would anyone be able to offer any assistance?

Regards

David

This is taken from the user’s manual at link:
http://www.buffalotech.com/support-and-downloads/documentation

The LS-WXL has 3 front indicator lights - Power, Function and Info/Error.  The Info/Error light has 2 colors.  Orange is a message while red is an error.

The time and count define the code.  A long on time is 1 second.  A short on time is 0.5 seconds.  The first long light starts the sequence.  Your description does not give the right sequence.  I assume you have one long on then 6 short on flashes.  This will then repeat.

If the light is orange this means your RAID is being created.  You’ll need to wait a while for it to complete.  Since you have a 3T mirror raid, this maybe 48 hours.  Yes, 48 HOURS.

If your light is red, then a 1 long and 6 short means the drive cannot be found.  You’ll need to reseat the drive and try again.

There are other codes based on the long on count.  You'll need to read the manual or post more details.
Helping the proud to see their failings.

At least give them the actual link, http://cdn.cloudfiles.mosso.com/c85091/LS-V_Manual.pdf

More detail not needed, Its a E06, clearly it can be 1 of 2 things. a bad disk, or they need to do TFTP as there is no I06 code for this unit, that would mean it has to be a E06.

Try this, power off the unit, remove disk 2 (which is the new drive you added) power back on. Same issue? power off unit, put disk 2 back in and pull out disk 1, (Keep the disk in the same slot, do not mix them) power the unit back up and see if its working now? If it is still the same E06 error you will need to do TFTP.

Here is the TFTP file: http://www.mediafire.com/download/jvmmuor9oo1d1ne/TFTP_Boot_Recovery_LS-WXL_1.40.sfx.exe

Follow the directions here: http://forums.buffalotech.com/index.php?topic=10185.0

If you need more help let me know Ill try my best.
