I'm having the same issue as the OP on my LS421DE.  I was wondering if rolling back the firmware to pre 1.8 solved the issue for them?  If I recall the issue started when moving on to 1.8, and has been present in the firmware upgrades since.  I am now running  Version 1.81-0.03 and the problem persists.

Just roll back to 1.34 and enjoy happiness.

Is there a way to downgrade via OSX? Also, I cannot find the files referenced in the tutorial for downgrading via Windows, anyone else have the same issues?
