Deleted Files
« on: September 20, 2008, 08:29:50 PM »

I recently deleted about 400gb worth of data from my Linkstation 1TB drive.  However, the amount of disk space available still reports as if the files were still there.

Is there something I need to do to recover space that was allocated to files that have been deleted?

Is there a utility I need?

Please help.

It could be that you have enabled the trashbox on the drive. All deleted files go to the trashbox folder in the root of each primary folder. You can delete the trashbox which will remove the files or you can disable the trashbox through the web interface.

Quick question ... where is the 'disable trashbox' option in the web interface?

To get rid of the Trash Box, go to Shared Folders in the Web Interface and then click on the name of your Shared folder.  Under the 'Edit Shared Folder' heading there should be a line that says Recyle Bin.  Change this to disable, and you've got it.

Once you log in to your drive, select:

Shared Folders

under the Shared Folders, you select the array you want to disable recycle bin.

The option to disable is at the bottom of the page.

Hope this helps.

I plugged in the wrong power supply to my Buffalo Drive Station and immediately smelled fried electronics. Now with the right power supply it won't boot. Can I replace power supply and retrieve data or am I screwed..
