Instructions on how to reinstall firmware for a LS-WGL/R1-V3
« on: December 22, 2014, 08:25:03 AM »
So I posted last month because there are options missing from the "Web Access" menu that do not allow me to set up the buffalonas.com service. As recommended I did the initialization/reset to no avail. I tried in the past to re-install the firmware but the buffalo installer tells me the NAS has the latest version. Is there a way to force install/re-install the latest firmware without erasing/formatting the HDD's?
Thanks for any help.

Yes. I assume you've downloaded the firmware updater. Change the tsupdater.ini file (this is for a terastation 3000 series). The key is to set Debug=1 under special flags. When in the firmware update app window - right click the mouse and select debug. this will take you to a window with a number of options, one of which is to force firmware update.

[Application]
Title = BUFFALO TS3000 Series Updater Ver.1.15
WaitReboot = 1200
WaitFormat = 600
WaitDiscover = 120

[Target]
ProductID = 0x0000201D
ProductID2 = 0x0000201E
ProductID3 = 0x0000201F
Name = TeraStation

[Flags]
Checkversion = 0
VersionCheck = 0

[SpecialFlags]
NoFormatting = 1
Debug=1

G.

I assume the firmware update process is similar fo LS-WGL ...... i would look for an "updater.ini" file and see if the TS version will fit....the idea is to force the updater into debug mode.

Buffalo forums has a force update guide but the wording is broken,

So follow the guide here. http://m1econsulting.com/knowledge-base/force-update-buffalo-linkstation-nas/
Newer units is what you need to look at. TSupdater.ini is for TeraStations, LSUpdater.ini is for Linkstations.

If you want to see the buffalo forum post on this still
http://forums.buffalotech.com/index.php?topic=10184.0

Units I own: TS-XL, TS-WXL, LS-WVL, TS-RXL,  TS5400, TS-RVHL,

I don't work for Buffalo but i do love there products enough to help people
