new device cannot log in

I hope someone can help with this. I have a new Buffalo LS-x2.0 Linkstation and after initial setup I cannot access the admin page. I see there is no reset button and it looks as if the only way to recover to factory is if you first log into the admin page(seems like a strange way to do that) if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
