2x 3TB Drive Install Failure (Error Light)
« on: November 28, 2013, 08:57:28 AM »
Hi

I have a Buffalo LinkStation LS-WXL which originally came with 2x 2TB. Recently one of those drives have failed, and I have just purchased 2x 3TB drives (Western Digital Green, WD30EZRX). Upon installing the drives the system seems to halt with an Error (the red INFO/ERROR light blinks on and off), and fails to appear in NASNavigator2.

If I put the working 2TB drive back in with one of the 3TB drives in the other bay it appears, but gives an error E22 (unable to mount hard disk).

These disks are brand new - any ideas what might be wrong?

Thanks
Dan

With new HDDs the unit has no OS to boot from. It will be flashing red in a sequence of 6. You need to follow the TFTP instructions in FAQ 3 of 5 in the storage section to put it into EM mode, then reinstall the firmware.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
