URGENT, please help!
« on: February 18, 2014, 06:24:46 PM »
Hi guys, this morning something strange happened on our Buffalo NAS TS-XL/R5.

Our Buffalo spec:
It's a RAID-10 with 4x2TB.
Firmware version 1.14.

Basically we added a new user but we ran into unknown problem.

1) Went into the WebUI
2) Created a new user (HD User) and saved it
3) But instead of HD User, it was set to Guest
4) So I deleted that user
5) I went to an existing user, I changed the password, and hit save
6) It was stuck on saving indicator screen for 10 minutes
7) I opened up another browser to login as admin
8) I could not login using the same admin/pass i always used.
9) This was also the time I found out everyone in the office lost access to their Samba shares
9) We contacted Buffalo and they recommended we do a factory reset
10) After, we still could not login as admin!!!
11) So it's panic time
12) Tried everything we could find on Google, debug mode, telnet, update firmware (which failed too because it needed admin password)

We feel the users database somehow got corrupted so now we're really trying to make the "erase user-partition" from debug mode working.

Currently now on an EM-mode using ACP commander to update our firmware to version 1.61 and it's currently updating.

We do not want to lose any data.

Anyone have any advice?
