I used to have 2 Buffalo Routers (WZR-HP-G300N, WZR-HP-G300NH2), of which G300NH2 is set as Routers and G300N as repeaters connected via WDS. However, due to poor reception, I have recently purchased WZR-HP-G450H to replace my G300NH2, due to lack of WDS function in the user-friendly firmware of G450H, I try to connect my new G450H(Router) with G300N(repeater) using AOSS. However they failed to connect.
I then tried to connect my old G300NH2(Router) with G300N(repeater) using AOSS, and it works.
Just want to clarify are there any AOSS issues between G450H and G300N? Or is it due to any mistakes I have made during the set up process?
This is how I tried to connect G450H(Router) with G300N(repeater) using AOSS:
1. Reset both G450H(with Router mode “on”, firmware v1.86) and G300N (with Router mode “off”, firmware v1.93)
2. Connect G450H and G300N with LAN cable
3. For G450H, set login password, setup PPPoE internet connection, setup wireless signal (manual SSID: (no space), Wireless Authentication: WPA/WPA2-Mixed PSK, Wireless Encryption:TKIP/AES)
4. For G300N, set login Pasword, and do nothing else.
5. From the user friendly firmware, Activate AOSS of G450H and then activate AOSS of G300N
The result the web access page of both G450H and G300N is back to original status after a few minutes of refreshing, showing AOSS is not in use. While the security light of both G450H and G300N keep blinking indefinitely.
One additional info, when I bought the G450H 2 days ago, after finding out the user-friendly firmware does not support WDS, I changed the firmware to dd-wrt (obtained from your website) to try to set up WDS there, but then I found out there are some unsolved firmware issue with VPN encryption (I tried it, VPN only works when encryption is off), so I update the firmware back to the user-friendly version obtained from your website. I hope this wouldn’t affect my AOSS function.
Please help me resolve this AOSS connection problem, thanks!
