Yeah 100MB/hr. doesn't sound right. First you have the drive connected to a USB 2.0 port and then you run the TurboUSB utility. It should step you through what must be done to activate the TurboUSB function on this device.

I got similar problem but faster than you. I need 150 minutes to copy 4.5G data from a computer to this buffalo drive station.

However when I copy the same 4.5 G data from the buffalo drive station to the computer, it takes only 25 minutes. Can anyone help me please?

Stanley

Question:

Are the files you are moving alot of little files or are they mainly bigger files?   Somtimes when you are moving alot of little files it will slow your transfer rates down.

Yes, I am transferring 160,000 files small files (30K). I know it would be slower but is it too slow for transferring? In the past when I use some other external harddisk, I only need 45 minutes for copying from computer to the harddisk. Should I need to return this Buffalo Drive station for repair or exchange ? Best regards. Stanley from Hong Kong

First and foremost when you formatted the drive did you perform a quick or a full format? It is possible that the drive might contain bad sectors that (during a quick format) were not found and therefore removed (i.e. marked as a bad drive address in the drive table). I would recommend performing a full format first and if your problem is still persisting to return the unit.

Thank you Dustrega, I just bought this drive station and it is pre-formatted to FAT32. There are some softwares (such as manual, TurboUSB driver, etc) in this pre-formatted drive and I do not know whether I should format this again. Thank you.

I'm not sure which region you're located in otherwise I would suggest downloading the software from our website. Problem is if your serial number isn't from this region you won't be able to download. Plan "B": You could copy off the files, format and copy them back on :)

Hi Dustrega, I just returned the buffalo station and exchanged a new one. I tried the new one again and it's still slow. I finally format the new drive to NTFS (the pre-formatted drive is FAT32) using the built-in format software. The speed increase a lot! Time reduced from more than 2 hours to only 30 minutes for 4.5G data writing into the drive. Thanks a lot. There is so much different between FAT32 and NTFS!

Guess I overlooked that the device was still in FAT32 as a factor. Glad it all worked out :)
