Unable to update firmware on TS5400r
« on: July 24, 2013, 01:34:21 PM »
I logged into the web console today and was notified that a firmware upgrade was available. I shut down my Windows server that uses the TeraStation for iSCSI storage and then rebooted the TeraStation for good measure. Once it was back up I went to Management > Update. Clicked on Install Update when prompted, entered the 4 numbers as prompted, clicked OK and then received this error "Because of an error, the following process did not complete. : Update Firmware" with an OK button. When I click OK I am kicked back to the login screen of the web console.

Any ideas what could cause this update problem?

Here is what I have tried so far without success:

Tried IE10, IE9 and Firefox 22, Firefox 23
Disabled all NAS and Drive services (SMB and iSCSI)
Tried initiating the update from Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2

Download the firmware from the below link, unzip it to a PC on the same subnet, disable any AV and firewall software running on the PC and run the TSUpdater.exe file.
It shouldn't take anymore than 15 minutes to complete.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebnetworks.com and we will get it fixed!

Thanks a bunch Eastmarch! After you made your last post I went and searched for the manual update file and found it. I was able to install version 2.40 successfully. I swear I had looked at the downloads before and there wasn't any firmware files available even though the built in updater on the TeraStation was notifying me an update was available. I guess it just took them awhile to post it out there.

Hopefully the built in updater works better for future udpates.

The TS5400R and TS5400D use the same firmware, the only difference between them is that the R is a rackmount and the D is a desktop.
