It seems reasonable for quality merchandise to have warranties that survive ownership. All car manufacturers do it, all major computer companies such as Dell and IBM do it, and many software companies do as well.

So why not Buffalo Tech?

All you have done is reduce the resale value of new equipment to zero.  Who would buy a 1 month old car from anyone else if they knew that the warranty would be null and void upon taking possession?  That answer is simple -- no one.

To clarify - Miles Gibson is talking about how Buffalo Technology USA does not warranty second-hand product, even it the seller "advertises" the product as new (BT can't control how endusers, or people posing as retailers, advertise their second-hand product). Buffalo Technology USA warranties product sold from BT authorized resellers and distributors.

BT also warranties BT refurbished product (refurbished by us), for three months, as long as it's sold from BT authorized resellers.
