Allow subfolder access restrictions on Terastation
« on: June 11, 2010, 06:06:53 AM »

It would save the admin a lot of work and help keep the folders structured if users could set their own permissions on subfolders and files.

Currently if I have 100 users I have to create 100 shared folders and set the access rights for them all manually. This is a mess. I'd like to create one share called 'users' or 'home' and let users create their own subfolders and set their own permissions on them depending on who they want to share data with.

I understand there may be performance issues, or problems if a user is deleted but there must be solutions to this, especially if the system is running some form of embedded linux and serious file system.

Forgot to mention that this is on a Terastation III NAS.
