Yes, CM V is only for Vista.

Do you have your comp plugged into the router?

Do you know what the IP address of your comp is?

Turn off ALL your firewalls (Windows firewall, antivirus firewall, ect)!

Firstly answer to your Qs

I just tried my lappy with it via wired and wireless and it just sets an autoconfigured addy at 192.254.x.x range so the router has not gone back to being a dhcp server

pauses Kis 2009 and still can't find the airstation.

Its normally connected to a dsl modem router hence the dhcp server on the wla g54 is disabled but the reset to defualts should have put it back in dhcp server mode but it hasn't..

I've resorted to several network scanners and its not finding it on the 192.168.1.x range nor 192.168.11.x range ..

Also its working as an access point fine. Just that i have un ping-able, un-telnetable/ss, no web gui, access point

The IP of the router should be 192.168.11.1 leaving your computer to a 192.168.11.x

Try resetting the router again, press and hold the INIT button until the DIAG light starts to flash then reboot your comp.

Make sure your comp is not set to an IP address.

Is your comptuer 192.254.x.x or 169.254.x.x?

comes back on the autoconfig range of 169.254.x.x range (my bad about the 192.254.x.x comment). All the the computers are on dhcp .

The router is not replying to any pings to 192.168.11.1 nor can i telnet into it. But its working ok as an accesss point. The router seems to be in dhcp client mode still.

Because its an router ap its not being shown on the adsl modem router's interface. a Network scan of the 192.168.11.x range does not find the router(nor in the 192.168.1.x range either).

Is this a wla-g54C or wla-g54L?

Set an IP address on your computer to 192.168.11.10 (subnet mask 255.255.255.0)

Then try to ping/access 192.168.11.1   and   192.168.11.100
