WHR-HP-G54 connect to wireless router
« on: April 09, 2009, 07:38:52 PM »
Please can someone help. I cannot get this product to simply connect via wireless to my dlink router. I want to connect a directv box to it next to my tv then this unit to communicate to my wireless router. After 3 hours I have given up and cannot get it to connect. Any Ideas?

To wirelessly connect two routers both need to support WDS, the WHR-HP-G54 supports that but does the D-Link router support it?

Many Thanks Aveyer that fixed it.

D-link DGL-4300

Advanced Wireless

WDS Enable

802.11D Enable

Buffalo WHR-HP-G54

Change Lan to 192.168.0.2

change SSID to our network name

change channel to 6

Bridge Enable

Add D-Link wireless mac address

add wep password for our network

ssid broadcast off.

switch to BRI

These simple settings took about 8 hours hard work to find out. And with changing the lan address of the buffalo it no longer wants to let me into the config screen anymore using 192.168.0.2  or 192.168.11.100 anyway it works so thank god for that.:manvery-happy:

This is an example of WDS working with another vendor's router. The WHR-HP-G54 uses a Broadcom chipset that supports Broadcom's WDS specification. Other vendors have certain routers that also use the Broadcom WDS-enabled chipset, so SOMETIMES this will work. However, since WDS was not part of the 802.11g standard, interoperability between different vendors' products is not guaranteed, and we can only support WDS between Buffalo products. I'm glad Aveyer could help, Scouser.
