Possible to Log In Remotely To Manage LS-WVL4TB?
« on: January 19, 2011, 12:02:04 am »

Is it possible to log in remotely from outside the network firewall and change the settings on the LinkStation Pro Duo LS-WVL4TB?

Thanks for any ideas.

Yes it is possible. You need to forward port 80 to the Linkstation's IP address in your router/firewall. Then when you go to your public IP address in a browser you will be presented with the log in screen for the Linkstation.

thanks for the tip.  I can't seem to get it to work, though.  I am using TZO for DDNS to a dynamic IP.  Is there any other way?

Thanks again for the help.

Did you try using your known public ip address or just the DDNS?

Well, since your second post, both actually.

I have tried every combination with www and http:// I can think of of both the know external IP and the DDNS, with and without the port number :80 at the end.

Still no joy.  I'll keep trying and if you can think of anything else I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

The way I ended up solving this was to forward Port 443 to the internal static IP of my LS-WVL4TB and then use the https:// prefix.  It give me a certificate warning but that doesn't matter.

It works!

Just to share, i can connect remotely to my LS-WVL via port 80, but the first step you need to do is to set ur router default remote port othe than port 80. Eg your router ip 192.168.1.1, after u set ur router to port 81, u only can access ur router by 192.168.1.1:81. So that u free up the port 80 for ur nas. However u still need to forwar port 80 to ur nas ip

Hope this help
