Troubleshooting E07 E16 problems
« on: October 15, 2010, 12:12:51 PM »

hello,

I recently purchased a Terastation HS-DHTGL/R5 without any drives

My plan is to fit it will 4xSeagate Baracuda 7200.12 1TB drives, googling found me some posts of people successully doing this for this device so i took the plunge!

I Installed the drives booted got E06 as the drives are new have no partitions

Booted into EM mode using tftp and extracting boot images from this post here

http://forum.buffalo.nas-central.org/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=3641

After booting the device initially gave me a E16 for all 4 drives attempted to do TSUpdate failed modified the ini file and attempted to do it again as ber the sticky in this forum that also failed.

Powered down the unit and replaced all the cables gave them a wiggle etc. Boot back into EM mode and i get E16 from drives one and two.

Change the drives over same as above E16 for drives one and two.

Opened up the unit swapped over the cables from slot 4 to slot to same as above E16 for drives one and two.

This is where i get stuck as i dont know which components on the board to check.

All 4 drives have 12V accross the yellow and black cables and none accross the red

The power connector has 12 across the yellow and 5v across the red

I assume there is something gone in between what would be a likely culprit? this post suggests they are fused

thanks for the help

Since you followed the steps to use TFTP and ACP commander there isn't much I can support except to try the TFTP boot sticky on our forum.  Repeat the force firmware update procedure after the blocks have shown as served.  We cannot support another forum sticky/users suggestions as they are not troubleshooting methods endorsed by us.  Best of luck.

It doesn't work the address you have provided in the link for your tftp tool times out You have any circuit diagrams so I can test along the path?

The link works fine on my end.  We don't provide circuit diagrams.
