Force Firmware Debug options does not work
« on: October 12, 2010, 09:09:36 AM »

Gang,

Linkstation mini LSWSXL firmware version 1.06 trying to upgrade to 1.34 because of a number of problems with setup.

Ok so I edited the ini file and put version check = 0 and then put in the [SpecialFlags] with Debug = 1. Tried a number of options even putting the SpecialFlags at the top. Anyways the LSUpdater will not go into debug mode which means it cannot find the server since it is sitting on my DHCP address of 10.0.1.28.

Please help, leave for a show and need this setup today.

Thanks

Gordon

There is no 1.06 FW for the LSWSXL so you will not be able to upgrade.

You probably have an LS-WSTGL/R1 (which is the older linkstation mini)

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

Download the 1.06 firmware from this link:

http://www.buffalotech.com/support/getfile/lswsgl-106.zip

Unzip the firmware to your desktop.

Double click on the LSUpdater.ini (the configuration file)

Wordpad will open up.

hange the "VersionCheck = 1" value to 0 and then hit Enter a couple of times to go to new lines and add in the following:

[SpecialFlags]

Debug = 1

Exit and save the wordpad file.

Run the LSUpdater.exe (the application file)

On the top left hand side right click the icon => Debug

Ensure all options on the left and right hand side are selected => OK.

Make sure the PC / laptop your using is connected into the same router as the linkstation (ie that you are not using a wireless connection)

Deactiavte ALL anti virus and firewall software including the Windows Firewall.

Run the LSUpdater.exe file as normal => Update.

NB: The above process will erase any data on the unit but i'm assuming since you only just got it that you dont have any data on it anyways.

Let me know how you get on.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
