Back up error
« on: August 21, 2010, 07:32:59 PM »
I have the Linkstation Pro Duo, fw 3.10. I ran a back up (overwrite differential) twice and I get a back up error. I've never had an error before. Any ideas as to why I get an error or how to figure out the problem? Thanks for the help.

whats the error? Did you select to "create a backup log" when you set the backup? If so it will tell you the error in the .txt file on the destination.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

It indicates the NAS encountered a backup error, no specifics. I'll try the log file next and let you know....thanks.

Davo:  I think I found the error:

Videos/2010/Party in HD July 24 2010.m2ts
rsync: writefd_unbuffered failed to write 4 bytes [sender]: Broken pipe (32)
rsync: write failed on "/mnt/usbdisk1/_backups/Videos/2010/Party in HD July 24 2010.m2ts": File too large (27)
rsync error: error in file IO (code 11) at receiver.c(252) [receiver=2.6.8]
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (4802 bytes received so far) [generator]
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(463) [generator=2.6.8]
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (1022 bytes received so far) [sender]
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(463) [sender=2.6.8]
-------- END BACKUP 2010/08/22 03:59:29 array1/Videos/Videos -> LS-WTGL7A9@usbdisk1 --------

The file "Party in HD July 24, 2010. m2ts" is 4.86GB.  Is that too big to transfer from the NAS to a USB drive?  What are all the other errors after the file too large error?  I didn't realize there was a maximum size for files to transfer from the NAS to USB drive?

Let me know.

Yes, since I like to be able to see the files on a PC (XFS doesn't allow that unless it is plugged into the NAS).  Must be that, correct?  File size limitation with FAT32?

Too bad it just doesn't use NTFS...

yeah, FAT32 will only allow a transfer of 4GB, anything bigger and you will get this error. In order to transfer your party photo's the USB disk will have to be XFS.
