LS-CHL1.0 NAS - Problems
« on: April 13, 2010, 10:11:23 AM »

Hi,

I bought a LS-CHL linkstation about 2 months ago. It was working perfectly fine till last week. I switched it off for about 6 days as i was on a vacation.

I have Window 7 Ulitmate 64 bit version of OS.

Once i was back and when i switched it on, the problem started. Its responds very slowly. When i try to see it in NAVNAVI it disappears sometimes and appears again after sometime.

The firmware my Linkstation has is v1.10. Is there a new version to which i need to upgrade. If so how do i upgrade it.

I have about 150GB data on the linkstation. Assuming that during the update process i would not loose any data hopefully. :)

When i try to login using the web admin the login doesnt come instantly. It takes about 5 mins to show me the username and password fields.

Once i login it takes around 3mins to navigate to any option.

Please do help me out on how to get this resolved.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Rajesh

You'd better take a backup before you really lose data.

The latest firmware seems version 1.24. Firmware update may help to solve your situation.

Be sure to take a backup (again...) before updating the firmware.

Update the firmware on the unit.  You will not lose the data when updating the firmware but I would suggest a backup of what you have on there.

In general, firmware update process should be written in Readme file or release note which comes with the updater.

There are 3 ways of backup Ican think of:

 1. USB drive - Connect it to LinkStation and configure backup from web console

 2. Another NAS - same as USB drive

 3. PC - Copy and paste all files on LinkStation to NAS
