Assigning DriveLetters to NAS
« on: March 31, 2010, 06:27:08 AM »

Hi all,

I have Symantec Desktop Laptop Option (DLO) and I want to create a path for the NAS but unfortunately DLO ask me to enter the path like example C:\myfolder because it gives me an error if I put it this way \\buffalostation\desktop .  Is there a way to assigned drive letters on NAS? since symantec website states:

"Make sure that the volume desired to be used for DLO has been assigned a drive letter on the remote storage location or NAS device. See hardware vendor documentation on share creation and naming."

Current Settings:

NAS is configured using Active Diretory and Joined the Domain

NAS is attached to the Network

Hardware

Buffalo TeraStation TS-XL/R5

Thank you guys in advance.

you can map the drive manually in Computer/My Computer and assign a drive letter.

Start => My Computer => Tools => Map Network Drive:

Assign a Drive Letter (Z: by default)
Folder: \\IP_Of_Nas\Name_of_Shared _Folder => OK.

PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.

I think it did not work on my part... Yes I did already to map the network drive of the NAS but Symantec Desktop Laptop Option the one I used for backup software doesnt recognized the path.

I think it should be putting Drive letters to NAS itself.

Any ideas?

Are you sure the backup software can write to a linux based Nas? There are alot of issues with other software being able to do this.
