Format HDD's slow
« on: December 16, 2009, 10:13:24 AM »

Hello,

I started the disc reformat in the admin console. The first disc took about 28 hrs at 34MB/s. The second disc isnt quite half finsihed and it has been about 24 hrs at 26MB/s.

The NasNavigator shows a red triangle with an exclamation point on the nas symbol and says unformatted.

Is this about right?

Can I shut down the nas or do I have to let it run its course?

I wanted to change the RAID configuration but started format by accident.

Thanks,

Ozzie

Are you sure that you didn't do a disk erase?  I wouldn't interrupt it as long as it's still progressing.

Maybe I did select disk erase, it was so long ago. It is still going. It is on the 4th disc now at 29%. It will probably be done by Sunday.

Is it normal to take 4 to 5 days to erase 4x1t discs?

Yes, thats about right for a disk erase.  The format is much shorter..
