RAID is not a replacement for a backup! Here's why.
Running firmware 3.05.
Disk is almost constantly thrashing even when all computers on the network are idle or suspended. Virus check says it's OK, and no unexplained loss of disk space or unknown files. 3 PC on the network running Vista or XP. Hardwired connection to home gateway provided by isp. IP address assigned by DHCP on gateway.
Thanks in advance for any insights.
Power sw is "on".
Hard to tell re: bogged down - mostly used for backup or for shared access to very large files. But doesn't seem abnormally slow. Much faster than the two Buffalo USB drives sitting next to it.
Disk is at 2.8% of capacity - no error lights or logs that I can see.
Configured RAID 0
Have you tried resetting from the interface to clear up any processes that may be running for some reason?
No, I have not. Is that the "restart" option on the Maintenance tab of the web tool? If yes, I'll try that and see if it helps.
Thanks for the help - I'll do a periodic restart when the chattering gets to be to much.
So that light is a network activity light, not a disk read/write light... that makes more sense. Is there a disk I/O indicator on the front panel like there is on the USB drives?
