Hard Reset LS-1000GL
« on: September 17, 2009, 10:43:11 AM »

We have a LS-1000GL Gigabit Buffalo drive that we pulled out an office. We do not know the username/password (or what we thought it was doesn't seem to be correct) nor do we need any of the data on the device. We would like to take it back to factory so we can get logged into it.

We have tried to power up the device, it shows up in NASNavigator2, then held down the reset button on the back, and all that seems to have done is change the web admin interface to Japanese text? The default "admin / password" does not work to login. We are stuck.

Can someone offer a solution so we can use this device again?

Thanks much!

I was able to get the device reset, but now it's showing japanese writing on the web interface. I have logged in, changed the option at the bottom of the "basic" tab to "English" and clicked the button at the bottom to apply, even restarted the linkstation, but it still comes up in japanese.

Had to step through instructions to reset device to factory. Working now.
