   forgot to mention i am using a mac 10.5.7 and a 1 tb linkstation 1.06 firmware

Thanks for the info. I deleted everything and started from scratch, a clean slate if you will and finally got it going. Of course it still hasn't finished the initial backup yet being gawd-awfully slow. Makes me want to hard wire plug it in this first go-around, but I will wait it out and see. It is working and that is the important thing. I might pour coffee into it though, through an IV drip. :smileyvery-happy:

Jesse,

    Did you by chance put a quota (space limit) on your Time Machine share on the NAS?

Hi guys,

Just a message to say thank you for this article. I got TM working now by following your instructions.

 

It's a shame that the setting up guide by buffalo isn't as informative/useful - wasted a fair few hours yesterday trying to set it up with no avail.
