Hi,

Potential new LS-CHL owner - but I cant seem to find any manual to answer my question. I need to find out how the DNLA/UPNP server updates its content. Is it a manual task or are there some automatic settings?

Thanks.

You can set it to either update automatically or for a manual configuration.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebnetworks.com and we will get it fixed!

Thanks - this sentence got me thinking:

"People should NEVER depend on one system to store all there data! ALWAYS backup your data to another device!"

I already have a Dlink DNS 313 NAS. However its too slow so I want to buy a LS-CHL. But your sentence got me thinking that I perhaps could use the Dlink for backup?! Are there any automatic setup in the Linkstation that could backup to my second NAS (without any PC's turned on)?

Oh - is it possible to obtain a LS-CHL manual anywhere?

The manual for the LS-CHL in North America is here: http://www.buffalotech.com/support/getfile/LS-XHL-CHL_Manual_web.pdf

I'm not familiar with the DLink DNS device, but if it is also on the network I would just set two backup jobs using the Memeo software, one to the LinkStation and one to the DLink.  If you want to backup from the LinkStation to the second NAS over the network, you should be able to specify the backup location while you are setting the job schedule for the backup, through the backup tab (under System) in the firmware.

I guess you could download the whole installation CD from here: http://www.buffalo-technology.com/support/downloads/ls-chl-linkstation-live/

However I uploaded the manual: http://rapidshare.com/files/264851142/135F4700d01.pdf.html

You can backup your backup automaticly with LS-CHL (haven't done it myself though yet).

edit: too slow, oh well :P
