Formatting to XFS worked! Can it be undone?
« on: June 17, 2009, 02:13:28 PM »
I have two LinkStation LS-WSGL740 1.0 TB units. I first decided to perform NAS on-board backup to attached 150 mb USB drive. I formatted the USB drive from NTFS to XFS with success. Now, LinkStation to LinkStation backup is preferred. How can I reformat the USB drive from XFS to NTFS? Windows XP does not support formatting drives of this size or type.

The drive should show up in window's disk management utility as 'unknown partition' (You can get there by going to start>right-click on 'my computer'>manage>disk management)

Right click on the area directly to the right of the Disk (the usb drive should show up as disk 1 or disk 2), and you'll see the option to format.

Format it to NTFS, and you're good to go.

joe42, you da man! I had to remove the existing partition found there since formatting was not an at-first option. After that and creating a new partition, it all went swimmingly. Thanks again and major kudos.
