replacement drive for HD-H1.0TGL/R5
« on: June 15, 2009, 02:35:29 PM »

I just had a 250GB drive go bad in an older TeraStation HD-H1.0TGL/R5. How do I purchase a new drive? Will most hard drives fit the unit or do I need something special? Can I replace the 250GB drive with a larger one?

Thanks!

Match the specs from the old one.  Technically it can work but we dont support if you replace the HD with a larger one.

Thanks JoshC. Without removing the old drive first, where can I find the specs? It doesn't look like Buffalo sells replacement disks specifically for this model anymore. So will just any 250GB drive work?

A 250 Gig hard drive running at 5400/7200 RPM's (check the drives already installed for speed).

Buffalo doesn't make the HDDs we use name brand that you can find at any store.  We only support the same size but if you put larger drives in the unit it will only use 250GB of its space.

Thanks everyone. Here is some additional info from Tech support. Helped me - hope it is useful to someone else out there. "Any 250 GB PATA (IDE) hard drive with a 16mb buffer will work as a replacement hard drive. The drives do not need to be from the same manufacturer. Thank you, Buffalo Technical Support"
