Linkstation Dead and Backup disk as well
« on: June 01, 2009, 10:31:50 AM »

I have a LS-320GL which constantly beeps when switched on. The flashing light decodes to E16. It wont show up in NAS Navigator or at its old IP address. I have started it in EM Mode and it still does not show up. So, no problem I thought, I will use one of the two  USB drives I alternate as backup to get the data. When I plug them into a PC or Mac they dont appear as Drives! I can see them in the Windown manage storage tool, but they show as unknown partition. Does this mean all my data is gone?

Help!

Your external drives were probably in XFS format or EXT3 so windows cannot read these, you will need to connect them to a linux machine in order to get the data.
PM me for TFTP / Boot Images / Recovery files  LSRecovery.exe file.
Having network issues? Drop me an email: info@interwebnetworks.com and we will get it fixed!

Thanks for that, downloaded Ubuntu and the disk was seen right away. Now I've got the data I might try opening the Buffalo and getting at the disk in there as I am way out of waranty.
