Can't connect more than 1 TeraStation
« on: May 18, 2009, 06:53:57 AM »

Hi there,

I have bought 2 * TS-RIGL/R5 with F/W 1.016.

They are working fine, but everytime I try to connect both to one windows server it failed.

Connecting one TS to windows (Microsoft iSCSI Initiator) is no problem.

Working fine.

But as soon as I add the second TS I can't see its drive.

The reason is that Windows thinks that the second TS is a second path to the first TS - but that's wrong.

It looks like that both TS are sending the same identifier so that windows thinks that they are both the same boxes.

How can I fix that? What do I need to change that Windows will see the second box as a standalone device without Multipathing?

Do you have LVM enabled and also try setting the names of the volumes differently.

Yes, I tried that, with and without LVM.

I named them Lw1 on first Box, Lw2 on second box. No change, Windows is aktivating Multipathing to those 2 boxes - which can't work.

Solution: I installed the Windows iSCSI Initiator without Multipath support, not clean - but that worked.
