Hello Everyone, I am new to this forum.

I looked around and did not see this issue posted/resolved in the forum. If this was asked before, send me the link and I will go from there!

I have a ls-w1.0tGL/r1, and I mounted a WD External Drive onto it's USB port. I can see it fine and mapped OK. Moved around files, etc.

However;

1. I simply took it back off w/o unmounting with press of FUNC button on back..ugh...late reading this point.

2. I then put it on my Win Vista laptop, and it does not even see it at all?

Has anyone come across this and can it be fixed?

THanks,

Hunter64

You would want to check the device manager and see it is recognized. Without powering down the Linkstation or using the function button, simply removing the drive is equivalent to simply yanking the drive out of your computer without using the "safely remove" option. Which can damage the drive.

Thanks for the info, I know better now!

Somehow letting the ext. sit for a week or so....allowed me to get back into it using my WIN laptop!

Gopt out of that one!

Thanks,
