I have had this Linkstation for a few years.  Just connected an external hard drive but cannot seem to be able to "see" it.  I enabled the USB in the USB setup and when I click USB details it identifies the drive, but it does not show up as a folder and the backup functions do not work.  I am running Vista business.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in adance.

The drive needs to be in FAT32 to function as a backup target, or EXT3 to be backed up to or be a network share.

That worked great, although getting the drive reformatted in FAT32 was a bit of a chore.

I reformatted through the Linkstation and can see and save to the drive.

Thanks!
