FTP setup on the Linkstation Pro Duo
« on: October 24, 2008, 11:37:56 PM »

I've been looking around for a while on how to setup the linkstation for FTP. I am able to use the buffalonas.com setup but I need to be able to upload/download multiple files at a time so I want to be able to set it up for use with an FTP client.

Is there any documentation anywhere on how to do this? I'm currently using it with a Linksys WRT54G Wireless-G Router.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry if the answer has already been posted.

In the router open port 21 TCI/IP and point it to the Buffalo NAS IP.

In the Buffalo enable the FTP server under services

Then in each share folder you want to set up FTP enable the FTP option in share folder set up.

Is there anyway to change the NAS to use different port other than 21 for the ftp?

Because of a known bug in my adsl box i cant open the port 21. Thats why it would be great to get the ftp working with different port, so i dont have to buy new adsl box.

The instructions worked perfectly and I am now able to access my NAS from anywhere. I've setup a shortcut in my network places or I can use an FTP client.

I love my Buffalo NAS.

THANKS!!!!

Enable access restrictions under the shares, specifying what users get access.

But remember, FTP isn't all that secure to begin with - user & password login isn't even encrypted.
