TeraStation Pro v1 Disk Capacity Enhancement
« on: January 01, 2009, 03:47:41 pm »
Greeting forum members.  I have a v1 TeraStation Pro with 4-500GB drives in it.  I purchased 4 new Seagate 1.5TB drives and have begun swapping and restructuring the RAID5 array and have finally got the 4th drive up and running and is in the process of rebuilding.  I was surprised to see that the RAID capacity was still at 1.36TB even though each of the new drives is properly recognized.  Will the new capacity be disclosed only after the full RAID rebuild or will I have to delete the array and start all over again?  Thanks in advance for the information!  Happy New Year too!

You will have to delete the array and rebuild it.  Restructuring will only "copy" the image size of the remaining 3 disks.  Also there may be a size limitation on the original unit depending on what region it was purchased in.

Yes, you are right.  Even with 6TB across the 4 drives I could only see 1.6TB of space in a RAID5 so I am limited by the OS/hardware inside the box.  Thanks for the help!
