No icon appears on Mac PowerBook G4 for new HD-PFU2 Ministation
« on: December 30, 2008, 04:09:14 am »

Hi. I plugged my new 250 GB MiniStation in to a USB port on my Mac PowerBook G4 and now my Buffalo shows a lovely green light and makes a clicking sound but the icon does not show up on my desktop - or anywhere else as far as I can tell.  I don't know if it is aimlessly spinning or if it is automatically backing everything up or ...?  Don't really want to pull the cable out of the port without ejecting the icon first, in case it damages the drive, but as I can't see it I have no idea what it is doing or how to eject it anyway.

The PowerBook is connected to the power supply (not running on battery power) and Yes, I have turned the power on at the wall switch...

Love my Mac. Want to love my Buffalo too. If anyone can tell me how to help these two get together and share information I will be very appreciative.

Thank you.

Paul

Try to zap the PRAM on the mac.

Turn the MAC off

Hold down (apple, option, p, r) at the same time pushing the power button

keep the keys (apple, option, p, r) down until the Mac chimes 3 times.

This will force the Mac to rediscover the hard drive.
