Linkstation live install on ubuntu only network
« on: December 18, 2008, 03:29:12 PM »

Hi;

I have just purchased a linkstation live (320gb) which i am trying to configure using ubuntu only machines.  I have an orange livebox router which the linkstation is connected to.  The problem i have is that i dont know the IP address of the linkstation, or its default netbios name to try and setup samba shares or to connect to the webinterface.

Can you provide me with some details please guys;

Andy

You can plug in a PC with out any dhcp running the default IP then will be 192.168.11.150, or you can login to your dhcp server to obtain the address.

   Thanks, sadly my dchp server within my wireless box doesnt list ip addresses.  WHat is the default netbios name?  My pc should be able to resolve the ip address from that.

In case anyone else has this problem in future this is how i solved it;

I installed wine in ubuntu and then ran the buffalo install cd within wine.  Likewise i installed the buffalo nas manager software and ran it under wine, all is now well with my new nas!
