link station visible by IP not by windows XP
« on: September 21, 2008, 06:14:35 AM »

Hi,

I just installed my new minilinkstation that I am using especially with my laptop with XP on it

I could install it and access my shares ok at first, using wifi connection

then to accelarate the initial transfert of data, I changed my connection to a LAN one, using a cable between the 2.

this time, ping and http access continued do work but I couldn't see anymore the nas in windows neighboor, even by searching it with explorer

I tried to change my node type to M, whitout effect, also added a lmhosts ...

anyone have an idea ?

thanks

Laurent

I would go to my computer then under "tools" go to map network drive.

Use the ip addres not the name, so for example it would be \\192.168.11.27\share

Thanks Paul for your answer, I didn't precise I also did this test and many other ...

I finally resolved that thanks to microsoft support site :-) that help me searching on my PC and not on the NAS

my network protocols seemed all right in XP interface panel, though the only fact of deleting and redoing them made everything ok !!
