BRHC-6316U2 won't burn BD-R with NERO 9
« on: February 21, 2009, 01:49:37 AM »

When attempting to burn a TDK BD-R 25 6x GB/GO  with Nero 8 or 9,  burn fails with message "Medium format corrupted
CdRom6 HL-DT-ST BD-RE  GGW-H20N." Does it with two different BD-Rs. Also, Nero doesn't show 4x or 6x speed write options.

Can watch HD and Blu Ray commercial DVDs fine.

Any thoughts on this?

Found out that this media wasn't supported by the Buffalo drive in the US. Had to download the X04 firmware from Japan. Works fine now. No thanks to Buffalo USA that has no plans of updating the firmware in the US. Last Buffalo product for me.

I went to the Japan Site and every thing is in Japanese !

How do I download the same new firmware as you are using ?

What kind of Read / Burn speeds are you getting with Nero.

I have Nero Ver 8 that came with by 6316U2 and also have

nero 9.

To play BD's you NEED to use the Nero software that's INCLUDED in the box WITHOUT running the updates. Just double clicking on the icon in my computer achieves nothing, no OS natively supports BD playback at the moment.

I downloaded the driver from this forum, post #34:

http://club.cdfreaks.com/f142/post-new-drives-firmware-tool-announcements-here-223975/index2.html

Here is the link the author gave that I used:

http://redirectingat.com/?id=49X85&test=off&url=http%3A//buffalo.jp/php/ldl.php%3Fto%3Dhd/brhc6316-xj04.exe

Just unzip the file by clicking on the downloaded file brhc6316-xj04. You'll see a HTML page in Japaneese pop up. Close that and then go into the BRHC6316 directory that was created. Click on the file GGWH20N_XJ04. This is the installer program and it will be in english. Just click on the red "UPDATE" button to update from your current version, XJ03 to XJ04. Be careful not to interrupt the process which should take a minute or two.

I acheived a 2x burn speed using Imgburn 2.4.2.0 (popular free burner s/w) on a TDK BD-R 6X 25 GB/GO media. It recognized the 6X speed of the media in Nero 9 but I haven't tried it with Nero yet.
