cannot access router remotely

BUFFALO WZR-600DHP AirStation HighPower N600 Gigabit Dual Band Wireless Router

I recently got a 600 router from newegg and installed it.  All seems fine with the exceptoin of the remote access.  After a cold boot of the router I can get in remotely with https.  If I close my remote browser and try to get back in it fails, it fails for days or until the router is cold booted again.

Has anyone else experienced this ?

In other words.

This router is port forwarding and acting as a good switch.  I have an IP thermostat at that house that I can get to fine, externally.

It is the actually admin of the buffalo router that gets locked out after just one access.

This might be because of the signal strength is weak, so it is better to contact the router manufactures to get more support. The router is working fine, as all other function except the remote works fine and by your diagnosing it looks like the issue is still with some weak signals. For that you should contact the router manufactures.

The default port for remote admin access is 8080 and maybe something else on your network uses that (it's a common default) so there could be a conflict.  Go into setup and change the remote access port to something else, like 9999 for example. Then when you access it remotely add :9999 to the URL, e.g. http://myhouse@mydomain.com:9999 or if you just use your IP address, something like 99.123.456.78:9999.
The place to make the change is under the Adminstration:Management tab in the Remote Access box. Be sure you have enabled Remote GUI Management and Allow any Remote IP.
Good luck!
