Hi All,
I have tried to configure to block facebook for a specific IP range. No matter what I try there is no result.
I am familiar with DD WRT on Linksys routers and with these I have been able to use the same settings to block facebook.
I have a WZR-HP-AG300H
The router IS the gateway for my network.
The router is not the DHCP or DNS server for my network
Internal subnet is 192.168.1.x
Here is what I did:
- "Upgraded' the simple firmware to the DD-WRT firmware from Buffalo : v24SP2-MULTI (06/03/12) std - build 19154
- Under Access restrictions, Select enabled Access policy,
- Create a name for the policy
- Save
- Edit list of clients - leave MAC and Individual IPs blank, add ONE range: 192.168.1.30 - 192.168.1.40
- Save, Apply
- Back in the Access policy: Select FILTER, EveryDay and 24 hours
- Under "Website blocking by URL address" section, I entered the URL: facebook.com
- Save, "Apply Settings"
- Reboot router for good measure
Computers with IPs in this range still can access facebook.
I have verified their IPs (within range) and their gateway (router)
As I mentioned, this SAME configuration (external DNS/DHCP, same access control settings) works CORRECTLY on a linksys with DDWRT.
I am tempted to try the community editions of DDWRT for this device because it appears this is a bug in the Buffalo version of the firmware?
Any assistance (or just confirmation that this is broken) would be great! Thanks in advance.
XP.
