WHR Wireless signal interference
« on: January 20, 2012, 12:14:36 PM »

I am trying to purchase a baby monitor and the digital wireless signal of teh monitor is going to transmit at 2.5ghz. The baby monitor does not have a channel/band switcher. Is there a setting in the router's admin panel I can modify or just the auto channel seleting is all that I can do. Ultimately, I am trying to prevent interference with the wirekess broadband signak and the wirekess baby monitor. Any advice?

It won't really matter what channel you set it to, you will get some interference regardless because of how those monitors work, they don't use any channeling so they pretty much crowd up the whole band, same way microwave ovens do. The only thing i could advise to totally get away from this type of interference is getting a dual band router and then use the 5Ghz radio.

But i will say this, most of the times here at my house, the microwave interefers, but its hardly noticable, it knocks my signal down about 6%, but my throughput still stays steady.
