I did solve this in the end by flashing my router with Buffalo's own firmware 1.85 but it would be nice to have the choice of the two especially as dd-wrt looks so pwetty.
The only issue I had which I couldn't resolve was not being able to wirelessly connect to the XBox's built in N adapter. I tried everything, fixing ip's, changing channels, ranges, lots of things, until it got too much so I loaded buffalo's firmware and it worked straight away.
The XBox could see the SSID, just not connect and I could also see the XBox appear then dissappear then appear and vanish again etc in the wireless nodes section on the status page
So is there some incompatibility with the xbox and dd-wrt's firmware "DD-WRT 17798"?
