WZR HP G300NH strange wifi issue
« on: December 30, 2011, 10:31:49 PM »

So after many issues with this unit, finally I arrived at DDRT 17798. It seems to be stable, but something strange happened today. It seemed to crash, then recover, but when it did my PC wifi indicator looked like this:

Router name is dd-wrt, SSID is WZR DD-WRT, so what the heck is the dd-wrt_vap that suddenly appeared? It's definately coming from my router, very few neighbours. Worst thing is it's unsecured...... any ideas?

Thanks

PS. How can I post pics and not just links?

Some of the settings must have changed or reset somehow, dd-wrt_vap is a Virtual Access Point or second wireless LAN. Try doing a full reset of the router and setting it up from scratch.

You can fully reset it by telnetting in and entering:

erase nvramreboot

Thanks for the reply. I found the virtual access setting which I have now disabled, only thing is I didn't enable it in the first place......

I was browsing the web, router went down, and when it came back had the vap showing.

Something weird there :-)
